Enriched Air (Nitrox)
Why dive Enriched Air?
Diving Enriched Air allows you to:
- Stay underwater longer
- Get back into the water sooner
Ok, but how much more time?
For example, if you dive to 50 feet (15 meters) on air, your no decompression limit is 80 minutes. But, diving on EANx36 gets you 220 minutes of no decompression time - an increase of 140 minutes! It’s perfect for underwater photographers, wreck divers and anyone who wants to stay down longer.
Just what is Enriched Air?
Enriched Air is a mixture with increased oxygen levels and decreased nitrogen levels, decreasing your exposure to nitrogen while diving. Most Enriched Air divers use a mixture of 32% oxygen to 68% nitrogen. Normal air is roughly 21% oxygen and 79% nitrogen.
What will I do?
You will learn preparation and diving procedures involved with enriched air diving.
How soon can I be diving on enriched air?
Just a mini workshop and a couple dives (optional) and you’ll be on your way. This course includes two dives done over the course of one day. These dives can be combined with other courses such as Navigation, Boat Diving, or Wreck Diving to maximize your training time.
What will I need?
In our classroom, you'll receive new tables designed for enriched air use; these tables will be necessary to calculate the increased bottom time allotted by diving with enriched air while still staying within the safety limits. You may need equipment designed for breathing enriched air; see one of our staff for help.
