Florida Trip Info Letter

This letter is to help you plan and to stay informed as to where we are staying and as to the workings of the weekend we are diving in Florida. This letter is only for the weekend (2 day) trips.

1. I try to leave Fayetteville on the day before the trip around 1:00 pm. I am getting old and driving all night and diving the next day takes too much of a toll on me. As to when you leave, well you need to make your own time table. The trip takes about 8 hours if the traffic is good.

2. You will need to meet me at my hotel at 0700 on Saturday morning. I will leave at 0715 to head to Branford where we eat breakfast and then travel to our first dive site of the day. You need to be on time as this sets the stage for the entire day. I would give you directions to the restaurant, but if you have never been there you would be lost in no time.

3. I stay at the Quality Inn in a town called Alachua. Directions to the hotels are simple. Take I-95 South until you get into Florida and then get on I-10 West until you get to I-75. Take I-75 South until exit 399. Take that exit to the right; you will reach a stop light. The hotels are in front of you or to the left depending on where you stay. There are short cuts, but I won’t tell you because they can get you lost.

4. The $140 that you pay the store covers the following items:
   a. Breakfast on Saturday
   b. Lunches on both Saturday and Sunday
   c. Snacks and drinks
   d. All entry fees for both days
   e. All air fills and Nitrox (IF you are taking the Enriched Air Diver specialty that weekend)
       i. If you are fun diving and use nitrox you will pay the difference to me when we get to the dive site.

5. What is NOT covered in the $140:
   a. Your transportation down, around and back
   b. Your hotel stay however many nights
   c. Supper on Saturday night
   d. Any extras you might want that weekend
   e. Sunday breakfast

6. Saturday night I go to a steakhouse (like a Texas Roadhouse). There are other places to eat that I listed below with some of the other hotels and the corresponding phone numbers.

7. When you sign up at the store and pay your fees, please leave the name you made your hotel reservations under, the hotel you are staying at and a cell phone number that I can reach you at if I need to. Please do this by the Wednesday prior to the trip.

8. Since we will be diving and driving a lot this weekend, I ask that you refrain from any alcohol until you get back to Fayetteville.

9. So when you meet up with us on Saturday morning be ready to dive (have 3 tanks each full and all of your equipment) and on time. We try to give you as much time in the water as we can before we head home around 1:00 pm on Sunday.

10. So drive safe and buckle up. If you need to reach me or Bill our number for this trip is (910) 263-1419.

11. Non-divers are welcome at a rate of $110.

So, make your reservations early and come enjoy the diving with us.

John and Bill
